Dancing queens Charlotte Burnley and Molly Alston have waltzed off with parts in a top musical production.

The Pontefract King’s School pupils – who started dance lessons when they were toddlers – have been given roles in West Riding Theatre Company’s forthcoming production of Annie at Wakefield Theatre Royal.

Charlotte, 12, of Houndhill Lane in Purston, will play a dancing orphan in the show while 14-year-old Molly, of Conisborough Way, Hemsworth, has been given the role of Pepper.

Charlotte’s mum Liz Burnley said: “She always wanted to dance, since before she could walk.

“The girls are both over the moon, dancing is all they want to do and both families support them.”

The girls – who both attend G-Force Dance Academy in Ackworth – recently appeared in the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk at the Theatre Royal.
