Chelsea Pensioners visited pupils at Darrington Primary School, who had been learning about the First World War, and were presented with a crafted cenotaph. A group of Chelsea Pensioners also joined members of the Royal Bitish Legion (RBL) to help with the Poppy Appeal in Pontefract’s Tesco and Morrisons.
Students at King’s School were visited by RBL representatives and four pupils performed an emotive spoken word poem focusing on the different perspectives of those at war. And pupils at Hemsworth Arts and Community Academy and St Helen’s Primary School produced a special memorial tree, listing the names of all the town’s fallen.
