LETTER: Overgrowth on Hemsworth Bypass will be but back

In response to the letter in last week’s Express, I would like to reassure Mr Stuart that we are scheduled to cut back overgrowth on the bridleway along the Hemsworth bypass.

We do however need to wait until after the bird nesting season to carry this out.

We are aware of the problems this is causing and in the meantime we have undertaken some cutting back where possible on the most overgrown sections of the path and will continue to do so.

We do have a maintenance team that work throughout the summer to cut back vegetation on footpaths and bridleways – a total of 215km are scheduled to be cut each year.

We would like to clarify that hedges and trees are the responsibility of landowners and when we are made aware of any issues we contact the landowners to ensure that these are cut back.
