Could I on behalf of the Knottingley Branch of the Royal British Legion, thank everyone who gave so generously during this year’s collection. The total raised in the Knottingley, Ferrybridge and Brotherton area this year is £16,401.25, which I am sure you will all agree is a tremendous amount – £2,000 up on last year.
Thanks must go to all shops, offices, schools and public houses who had our poppy boxes in their premises, in particular the staff in The Barbers, Ferrybridge, who dressed up as Poppies and collected £240.
Thank you also to Moto Service Station and Morrisons, Knottingley who allowed us to collect on their premises, with a big thank you to our loyal band of volunteers who manned these sites throughout the two week period of the appeal.
Last but not least thank you to the Knottingley Silver Band who once again launched our appeal in brilliant style with a wonderful evening of entertainment in the club and who, as always, provided the music for our annual service of remembrance at the cenotaph in Knottingley. The service was once again led by the Rev Clive Flatters and was particularly well attended.
My sincere thanks to everyone once again.
