Kippax Welfare maintained their Wetherby League Division Three promotion challenge with a 42-run home victory over Kirk Deighton A.

Daniel Hall, Mohammed Dadhiwala and James Goodall batted excellently as Kippax posted 196.

Opener Hall hit 45, Dadhiwala top-scored with a half-century and Goodall, batting at number 10, chipped in with a vital 41.

John Henshaw (4-6), Imran Mohammed Pandor (3-22) and Syed Hussain (2-24) dismissed Kirk Deighton for 154.

Kippax are fifth, just six points adrift of second-placed Crompark with a match in hand.

Zuber Patel (67 and 2-20) and Hussain (34) led Kippax to a 25-run win at Scholes but Ledsham bowed out with a 105-run defeat at South Milford, despite 74 by Johnny Smales.

Kippax host Barwick in Elmet in the quarter-finals on June 28.

All-rounder Smales had better luck in last Saturday’s Division Two game against Thorner Mexborough.

Smales contributed 76 to Ledsham’s total of 191-8 and then snapped up 3-31 as Thorner were routed for 96. Oliver Baron claimed 4-20.
