Bresnan back to boost Yorkshire

CASTLEFORD’S England cricket star Tim Bresnan is back in the Yorkshire team tomorrow for a four-day County Championship game away to Kent at Canterbury.

Bresnan has been released by the ECB to play in this game and against Leicestershire at Scarborough next week and will be keen to look sharp as he looks to maintain his place in the England Test side for the summer matches ahead.

The Yorkshire side take to the road for the first time this season for a quick return against a Kent side against who they drew at Headingley two weeks ago.

Kent had the better of that game only to be ultimately denied by the weather, but the Tykes played better in their second game against Essex last week and go into their third game in more confident mood.

The return of Bresnan has given everyone a lift with the 27-year-old adding to the batting and bowling strength.

Captain Andrew Gale said: “Tim’s a class performer and is good to have around, on and off the field, especially for the young lads.

“He knows his own game inside out and to have someone like that in our side for the next couple of games is a big boost for the side.

“He’s chomping at the bit. He got back from his honeymoon last week and the day after, he was back in training with us. That just shows how hungry he is.

“He is really eager to get back on the pitch for us.”
