CASTLEFORD all-rounder Tim Bresnan has been named in England’s one-day international and Twenty20 squads to play Pakistan, but he must prove his fitness before playing in any of the games.
The Yorkshire quick bowler and handy batsman – who has been named alongside his county team-mate Jonny Bairstow in the squad – had to leave this tour of the United Arab Emirates because he had not recovered from an elbow injury that had been operated on. In his absence England lost the Test series 3-0 to Pakistan.
Bresnan rejoined the England squad this week and was able to bowl on the edge of the square during the lunch interval at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on the final day of the Test series. But he has yet to prove he is fully fit.
A statement on his selection said: “Tim Bresnan’s inclusion in both squads is subject to a fitness assessment during the preparation period as he continues his recovery following an elbow operation.”
