Castleford CC remain fourth from bottom of the Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB Premier League after their scheduled game at home to Sheffield United fell victim to the wet weather.

Both teams take three points from an abandoned game.

Castleford Seconds did manage to play their Division Three North game in the York Senior League, but probably wished they had not as they were well beaten after turning in a poor batting display against Copmanthorpe.

Batting first on a drying wicket proved tricky as Castleford were all out for only 75 with Luke Edwards (33) their only batsman able to make much impact. Alistair Byers did most of the damage in taking 5-24.

Copmanthorpe had little trouble reaching their small target for the loss of three wickets, Andrew Godfrey (35) top scoring.

Castleford under 15s won a competitive Pontefract Junior League game against Fairburn.

An excellent batting display saw Luke Edwards hit 38, David Tomlinson 32 and Oran White 26 not out as Cas piled up 108-2 from their 20 overs. Fairburn were kept to 99-7 in their reply with two wickets for Jack Young.

Castleford under 11s were edged out by Sandal in their Pontefract Junior League game as they made a net score of 246 to their opponents’ 247.

Jack Young (19) top scored.
