Ledsham and Kippax stay on promotion trail

Andrew Kelly was an all-round star for Ledsham as they maintained their title bid in Division Two of the Wetherby League with a four-wicket success against Sherburn Eversley.

After taking four wickets with the ball Kelly followed up by hitting a half century with the bat as Ledsham overhauled their opponents’ 135 all out.

Kelly hit exactly 50 while Andy Baron scored 26 and Johnny Smales 20 in a maximum point success.

Tristan Gretton top scored with 33 for Sherburn, but they struggled against a bowling attack that saw Kelly take 4-22, Joshua Ware 3-47, Oliver Baron 2-38 and Smales 1-20.

The result kept Ledsham in second place, nine points above third-placed Headingley Bramhope.

Wasim Patel was in top form as he hit a century in a convincing Division Three win for Kippax over Green Hammerton.

After going in first Kippax piled up a huge 328-6 score as Wasim led the way with 108 and support came from Zuber Patel (45), Jamie Wills (28) and Sam Ward (21).

Syed Hussain (30) and Daniel Hall (20) gave Kippax a decent start and Mahmed Munaf Navsarka weighed in with 53 not out at the end.

Green Hammerton were never in contention in their reply, being bowled out for 157 with wickets for Zuber Patel (5-54), Bashir Khalifa (4-53) and John Henshaw (1-20).

The win keeps Kippax level on points with leaders Crompark.
