Liam Hyde leads Castleford home for impressive Yorkshire Premier victory
Castleford raced to a nine-wicket win over Sheriff Hutton Bridge to move up to second place in the Yorkshire Premier Cricket League North.
With Liam Hyde hitting 78 from 98 balls and support coming from Brayden Clark (42) and Chesney Hughes (34 retired not out) Castleford breezed past Sheriff Hutton’s 193 total with almost nine overs to spare.
Eddie Morrison (4-38) and Matthew Rees (3-36) did most to restrict Sheriff Hutton.
Ledsham moved up to third in the York League’s Division Two Ebor with a maximum point win over Heslington.
Bowlers paved the way for a four-wicket success as Heslington were dismissed for 92 with Andy Kelly taking 4-9 in 11.5 overs and two wickets each for Hayden Mortimer and Freddie Dewhirst. Ledsham’s batsmen also found if difficult, but they got home with four wickets to spare in 25.2 overs as Robert Fisher hit 19, Jake Wright 15 and Michael O’Hara 14.
Castleford seconds had their York Senior League fixture against Dunnington seconds abandoned.
