Pontefract cricket League: Five star Scott Taylor display helps Ferrybridge to beat rain
For the second successive Saturday rain wreaked havoc with the scheduled fixtures across the Pontefract Cricket Leagues.
Ferrybridge Power Station were one of the few to complete a first team game and they were delighted to pick up winning points from their Division Four contest with local rivals Allerton Bywater.
They sped to an eight-wicket win to beat the weather as well as their opponents, who they bowled out for just 27 in less than 21 overs.
After being put in, Allerton had no answer to the bowling of Scott Taylor (5-11) and Neal Patel (3-15), whose efforts took Ferrybridge to the top of the table.
South Kirkby seconds enjoyed their first win of the season as they beat Eggborough Power Station by two wickets in Division Four.
Victory was set up by bowlers Stephen Ashworth (4-15), Jacob Peacock (3-27) and Adam Guest (2-9) with Eggborough dismissed for 106. Guest (39) and Peacock (33no) led the way as Kirkby reached their target.
Whitley Bridge were involved in the only game to finish in Division Two, but were on the wrong end of a four-run defeat to Pollington.
In a match reduced to 34 overs-a-side, Pollington posted a 172 score with wickets falling to Karl Buxton (5-28), Matthew Draper (3-23) and Matthew Daniel (2-56). Lewis Longstaff led Bridge’s reply with 69 and Diljit Singh hit 48, but they fell just short, ending on 168-5.
All the games in Divisions One and Three were abandoned.
