Teenage opener Alex Cree leads way for Methley while Townville and Great Preston enjoy big wins
Methley put a disappointing opening weekend behind them as they hammered old rivals Wrenthorpe by 249 runs in the Premier Division of the Gordon Rigg Bradford League.
Young opener Alex Cree led the way with his first century in the league as Methley piled up a big 324-6 score in their 50 overs.
Cree made a superb 128, smashing five sixes and 16 fours along the way. He was supported by Jordan Laban (44), James Logan (40), Jared Warner (29) and Jason Marshall (28).
Wrenthorpe were then bowled out for only 75 as skipper Tom Chippendale took 4-43 and spinner Logan (3-16).
Townville were the quickest Premier winners as they bowled out Cleckheaton for just 56 and knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets.
Captain Jack Hughes continued his fine start to the season in taking 4-3 while there were two wickets each for Richie Bresnan, Conor Harvey and Harry Clewett. Harry Warwick hit 36no as Townville reached their victory target in only 6.1 overs.
Great Preston won their first game in Division Three as they beat Windhill & Daisy Hill by 10 runs in a high scoring contest.
Ben Broxup (67), Ian Newton (57) and Jacob Wright (50no) top scored as Great Preston posted a 293-7 total. Windhill then fell short on 283-9 with Oliver Newton taking 4-60.
