Defending champions Flanagan’s Army avenged their solitary defeat this season by beating Wanderers 79-78 in Monday’s Five Towns Quiz League top of the table game.

It put new leaders Flanagan’s two points clear of Wanderers.

Flanagan’s now need to beat Railwaymen in the final league match next Monday to retain the championship and stay on course for a league and cup double.

Olde Taverners made certain of third place with a 74-62 victory over RAFA Vulcan Club.

Division Two champions Last Orderd maintained their 100 per cent league record by beating Leading Ladies 82-50.

Last Orders stayed eight points clear of the other promoted team Crofton WMC who won 85-36 at Little ‘Un.

Plough Inn and Rockin’ Gladiators tied for the second time this season when Monday’s match ended 67-67.

The teams drew 63-63 earlier this season.
