Pontefract Collieries are gearing up for their first pre-season game next Monday when they travel to play Penistone Church (kick-off 7.30pm).

Colls are preparing for their return to the Premier Division of the Toolstation NCE League and have further warm-up games planned against North Gawber Colliery at Woolley Cricket Club on Friday, July 24 (6.30pm); Horbury Town away on Tuesday, July 28 (7.45pm); Shaw Lane Aquaforce at home on Thursday, July 30 (7.45pm); Dronfield Town at home on Saturday, August 1 (3pm); and Goole AFC away on Tuesday, August 4 (7.45pm).

Ponte, meanwhile, have appointed Ross Gemmell as their new physio.

Ross, 22, recently qualified as an osteopath following four years of studying at Leeds Metropolitan University. He currently works at private practices in Selby, Goole, Leeds and Northallerton.

He originally developed an interest for osteopathy at 16 following a long standing back injury initially suffered playing with Selby Town in the NCEL.

Glasshoughton Welfare made an encouraging start under new manager Mick Norbury as they won their first pre-season game 6-0 at Sherburn White Rose last Saturday when Danny Middleton (two), Del Pollock, Jack Kirk, Micky Dunn and Regan Fish were all on target.

Welfare now face Askern away this Saturday (3pm) before hosting Shelley next Tuesday (7.30pm).
