Lewis Stephens fired Welfare ahead six minutes before the break and they defended strongly to keep their hosts out.

But Scott Phillips levelled for Brigg five minutes into the second period then Alfie Usher netted Brigg’s second goal on 76 minutes.

Welfare stuck to their task and scored their second goal late on through Joe Milner, but Andy Taylor’s goal ensured the home team took all the points.

Glasshoughton were quickly back in action last night when they hosted Hall Road Rangers in their second league game and collected their first three points of the season with a 2-1 victory.
