If pre-season results are anything to go by Glasshoughton Welfare are shaping up well for their big kick-off this weekend.

Welfare open their campaign in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League on Saturday with a trip to East Yorkshire Carnegie (3pm).

A quick return fixture follows at the TJs Arena next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Glasshoughton are looking to kick on after reaching the play-offs last term. They have enjoyed some encouraging pre-season performances and results and last Saturday won 3-0 at Premier Division Garforth Town.

All the goals came in the second half with James Dyson netting in the 54th and 62nd minutes and Jamie Simpson adding a third eight minutes from time.

Welfare concluded their pre-season programme on Tuesday night with a hard worked 2-1 win over West Yorkshire League side Altofts FC.

Although dominant for the majority they trailed to a speculative effort before two goals in the last five minutes by Gracyan Klimczak clinched victory.

Tom Carr and Klimczak both saw penalties saved by goalkeeper Nick Downwood.
