Great Preston FC stalwart Vince Donnelly is pictured with Barkston Ash FA representative Mark Heap, who presented him with the Tommy Dixon Service to Football Award.

The service to football award was named after Tommy Dixon who sadly passed away recently. Tommy was a great servant to the Barkston Ash District FA and to local football for many years.

The award is given annually to those who play a big part in running grassroots football .

Vince was nominated by his club Great Preston. He has been a stalwart of the club since making his playing debut in the mid-late 1970s and played for both the first and second teams playing in most positions from one to 11. He also played in the local Sunday leagues.

After hanging up his gloves and boots he embarked on a refereeing career in the Castleford & District Sunday League while at the same time starting to become involved with committee matters at Great Preston.

Over the years Vince has done every task that is needed to run a football club from secretary, treasurer, chairman, groundsman, kit washer and he knows the club inside out.
