Pontefract Collieries will start their historic first season in the Evo-Stik League with a home game.

Craig Parry and Craig Rouse’s men will open their East Division campaign when they take on Lincoln United at their White Rose Stadium on Saturday, August 18 (kick-off 3pm).

A trip to Pickering Town quickly follows on Tuesday, August 21 before Ponte round off August with a Bank Holiday Monday game at home to Stamford.

Other dates to look out for during the season see Colls away to Frickley Athletic on Saturday, December 1 and at home to the newly formed Ossett United on Boxing Day.

The return match with Ossett is on Easter Monday while Ponte host Frickley on Saturday, March 23 and the league season is due to finish on April 27 with a home game against Gresley.

Collieries, meanwhile, came out on top 5-0 to win the annual pre-season Bill Cook Memorial Trophy game against neighbours Glasshoughton Welfare.

Ponte enjoyed their first run-out ahead of their new campaign as Jack Greenhough (two), Tom Dugdale and Eli Hey were all on target to go with an own goal in a comfortable victory.

Colls assistant manager Rouse said: “It was a good positive start to pre-season.

“We were defensively solid, creating chances and good in possession. No points in pre-season, but a good platform to build from.”

A second pre-season game followed on Tuesday night with another NCE Division One side, Nostell MW, managed by former Colls boss Simon Houghton, providing the opposition.

Three unanswered second half goals saw Ponte run out convincing 5-1 winners with Vaughan Redford (two), Eli Hey, Cody Cromack and new boy Jordan Buckham on target.

Pontefract are in action again on Saturday at home to Athersley Rec (3pm).

Glasshoughton have called off their next two planned pre-season games, in which they were due to host Albion Sports and Ossett United, due to problems with their Leeds Road pitch.

They are hoping to continue their build-up to the new season at home to Goole AFC next Tuesday (7.30pm).
