Pontefract Collieries missed a chance to climb into the top four when they were disappointed to only bring a point back from their travel to play Appleby Frodingham in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League on Saturday.
After four straight wins Colls were hopeful of another victory against opponents in the bottom three and led 2-1 only for a late goal to deny them full points.
Ponte have been blowing teams away with fast starts in recent games, but this time it was they who were trailing early on with Chris Rodgers putting Appleby in front after only eight minutes.
Colls gradually got into their stride and equalised on 31 minutes when midfielder Josh Corbett struck.
They then went ahead a minute into the second half as Tom Agus netted and held on to the advantage until five minutes from time when Richard Girling got free to find an equaliser for the hosts.
It was a disappointing finish for Collieries, who would have gone fourth if they had maintained their winning run.
Colls are back at home this Saturday when they entertain Grimsby Borough at the White Rose Stadium (kick-off 3pm). Hopes are high that they can quickly get back to winning ways against a side down in 14th with Ponte looking to cut the gap on the top teams. They are now only five points behind Shaw Lane in second.
Two goals from Mark Simpson helped Pontefract Collieries under 19s to a fine 3-0 win against Goole United in the Northern Alliance League.
