Hall at the double in Leeds United win in Ireland

Leeds United winger Ryan Hall gave manager Brian McDermott a timely reminder of his ability as he scored twice in a comfortable 4-0 win for the Whites at Shelbourne.

The United side was a mix of experienced players needing valuable game time and young professionals making their way in the game and they turned in a good display in front of a crowd of 2,177.

Noel Hunt scored the opening goal on 15 minutes when getting on the end of a long pass by Rodolph Austin and the first of Hall’s goals made it two on 28 minutes as he turned to fire home.

One of the youngsters, Ross Killock, added a third in the second half with the defender heading home a cross after a corner had not been cleared.

Striker Hunt was taken off after an hour, with Saturday’s opening Championship game against Brighton in mind, but his replacement, Lewis Walters, also looked dangerous and Leeds continued to dominate.

They could have had more goals, but managed just one more when Hall produced a good finish over the keeper.

It was a decent final pre-season workout for first team squad players Austin, Smith, Zac Thompson and Adam Drury as well as another step on the road to recovery from injury for attacking midfielder Chris Dawson, who completed 70 minutes.
