McDermott will return to the Madejski Stadium for the first time since his sacking as Reading manager in March when he takes his new team who are looking to maintain their unbeaten away record so far this season.

The Whites travel south after keeping a clean sheet and winning 1-0 at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday and another victory could lift them into the top four in the Sky Bet championship.

McDermott, who has admitted it will be an emotional night for him, will be happy if his Leeds team play to the same standard they showed at Bolton.

He said: “We’re hard to beat at the moment. That’s where you start. We’re working on the other side as well.

“We scored a good goal early on, but I felt we were in control and it was the right result.

“We deserved to win the game. We worked so hard at both ends.

People have talked about goals and chances and we’d talked about what we need to do.

“We created chances on Saturday. I’ve no problem with balls over the bar or wide because we created.

“It could have been two or three-nil but we’ll settle for the one. The clean sheet was important, because if you get clean sheets you win games.”
