The 30-year-old Pontefract-born midfielder has picked up a hamstring strain in training and will also be forced to miss the rest of Ireland’s summer internationals, including a friendly with World Cup winners and European champions Spain in New York next month.

Green has been replaced by Hull City’s Stephen Quinn with Ireland also set to face Georgia in another friendly on Sunday and the Faroe Islands in a World Cup qualifier on Friday, June 7.

Two former Leeds players are in the squad with striker Robbie Keane and defender Darren O’Dea chosen.
