United were not at their best and looked to be struggling after a goalless first half, but after scoring within three minutes of the restart they established control to run out comfortable 2-0 winners in the end.

Leeds started with their 3-4-1-2 formation again, making one enforced change from the team that lost to Huddersfield with Lee Peltier in for the injured Sam Byram.

Another change had to be made in the first half when they then lost left wing-back Stephen Warnock through injury with Marius Zaliukas coming on to make his debut and centre-half Jason Pearce having to turn into an emergency wing-back.

The Whites lost their way in the opening half after starting well. Alex Mowatt forced a good save from Yeovil keeper Wayne Hennessey after only two minutes and Matt Smith saw a header deflected wide from Mowatt’s free-kick.

Smith could not get any power behind another headed chance and Rudy Austin shot wide from the edge of the box from McCormack’s pass. Smith then missed a great chance when he completely fresh aired a shot from close range from Warnock’s low cross and when the ball was played back to Mowatt his curling effort from the edge of the box went just wide.

But from that point Leeds struggled to create and Yeovil got on top for a patch, although they lacked a cutting edge up front and never really threatened to score for all the possession they had.

Their only efforts on target were mis-hit crosses easily dealt with by Paddy Kenny, although a few shots from range were not too far wide.

The second half started with a bang for United, however, when Austin finally found space to run into and used it well before passing to McCormack who smacked the ball into the top corner for the opening goal.

Austin, playing just behind the front two, was an increasing threat and produced another strong run before seeing his shot deflected over. He also struck another shot over from just outside the area.

A second goal followed on 67 minutes as Austin and McCormack combined again, the Jamaican international producing a good turn and pass and the Scottish striker sending Hennessey the wrong way with a smart finish from just inside the box.

Dexter Blackstock looked lively when he came on to make his home debut and after being set up by McCormack he saw a shot deflected just wide.

Yeovil battled to get back into the game, but the closest they came to scoring was when striker Joel Grant threw himself at the ball, but could not quite reach it following Ed Upson’s low shot.

It was a comfortable finish to the game for United as they made it three home wins on the trot.
