Warnock vows to put things right

AFTER seeing his side sink to a new low with a 2-0 defeat to Derby on Monday Leeds United manager Neil Warnock promised to put things right in the summer.

With just nine points from 10 matches and still without a home win it has been a difficult start to life as United boss for Warnock and he has admitted he does not know where the next win is going to come from with many of the current players knowing they will not be at the club next season.

But he reckons he has all the evidence he needs on which players to try to keep and which to discard and will make a big transformation when the current campaign ends.

Warnock said: “I said to (Derby manager) Nigel Clough at the end, ‘Enjoy this, Nigel, because you’ll never see another Leeds United team or a Neil Warnock team like this’.

“We had a lot of players playing that know they won’t be here next season. We’ve not got enough Leeds United-type players.

“We don’t revel in the atmosphere and that’s what we will do next year. We will revel in it.”

Warnock had no complaints over the sending off of Michael Brown against Derby, but felt referee Oliver Langford had made his mind up on Leeds before the kick-off after seeing several robust challenges in Leeds’ 2-0 defeat at Reading on Friday.

He added: “I don’t think you can complain about the sending-off. We all saw Mario Balotelli’s tackle at the weekend and I think refs have been watching it.

“You don’t have to put them in that situation and Michael is wrong to do so. Putting his foot high gave him an excuse.

“But the referee said to Danny Pugh in the tunnel before the game, ‘I saw your game on Friday’. I think that’s pre-meditated, totally wrong and out of order.”
