Two goals in the last 13 minutes condemned Pontefract Collieries to defeat in their latest game in the Premier Division of the Toolstation NCE League.
Colls looked to be heading for victory when taking the lead in the second half of their away game at Athersley Recreation, but the game was turned in its head late on.
After a goalless first half the prolific scoring Aaron Moxam fired Ponte ahead eight minutes into the second period with his 20th goal of the season.
They looked to be seeing out the game when Athersley equalised 13 minutes from time through their new signing from Hemsworth MW, Ryan Pleasants.
Another new signing and a former Colls player Joe Thornton then came up with a winner four minutes from time and Pontefract could count themselves unlucky not to be bringing something back from their travel.
This Saturday they are back at home and will be looking to climb back up the table from their current 15th position when up against second from bottom Parkgate. Kick-off is 3pm.
Colls are also in action next Tuesday when away to Thackley (kick-off 7.45pm), who are one place and one point behind Ponte after last weekend’s games.
