Pontefract Collieries will be looking to get off to a flying start when they kick-off their new season back in the Premier Division of the Toolstation NCE League with a home game on Saturday.

Armthorpe Welfare make the short trip to Pontefract’s ground for the season opener with Colls hoping they can kick on after a promotion campaign last time.

The visitors arrive on the back of a mixed set of pre-season results when they have enjoyed victories over Ossett Town, CGB Humbertherm and Brodsworth Welfare, but lost to Doncaster Rovers, Buxton, Thorne Colliery and Marske United.

They were 17th in a 21-team Premier last season so Ponte will be confident they can make it a winning start.

Colls have been boosted ahead of the new campaign with three new signings, including former Ossett Town and Frickley Athletic forward Ryan Williams.

Ex-Glasshoughton Welfare player Joe Jackson and Brad Hutchinson, formerly of Shaw Lane Aquaforce, are more additions.
