With their relegation from the Premier Division of the Toolstation NCE League confirmed, Glasshoughton Welfare suffered another defeat when they went down 4-1 at second from bottom Retford United on Saturday, but they bounced back with a victory on Tuesday night.

Retford led at the break after Bradley Johnstone struck on the half-hour mark.

Nathan Perks equalised for Welfare two minutes into the second half, but Adam Lee restored the hosts’ lead and struck again to make it 3-1.

Marc Ashton put the icing on the cake for Retford when he scored their fourth goal in the 90th minute.

Welfare were also in action on Tuesday night and ended their long losing run with a 4-1 victory at home to Maltby Main as Perks bagged a first half hat-trick.

His first goal came after only eight minutes and further efforts on 25 and 35 made it 3-0 at the break.

Brian Cusworth pulled a goal back for Maltby five minutes into the second half, but Jimmy Dyson sealed Welfare’s win on 65 minutes.
