Pontefract Collieries were left further frustrated with two more games postponed.
After their match against Armthorpe fell victim to the wet weather last Saturday they were hoping to get back in action on Tuesday night away to Thackley in the Premier Division of the Toolstation NCE League, but another postponement left them without a game now since December 5.
Weather permitting, this Saturday Colls are down to host fourth from bottom Brigg Town (kick-off 3pm) and they are also due to be in action next Wednesday, at home again to second from bottom Parkgate (7.45pm).
Both are key games as Ponte, under their new management, look to avoid getting dragged into a relegation battle. Currently they sit six places and nine points above the bottom, but have half their season to go with 21 matches remaining yet.
Pontefract have used their time off to boost their squad with three new signings all waiting to make their debut.
Former Bradford Park Avenue and Farsley Celtic playmaker Matty James has arrived to try to boost the side’s creativity while midfielder Josh Wright has joined from Goole, but enjoyed good spells previously with Ossett Albion and Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Young striker Brad Kerr is the third new man, arriving from Retford United and having built a reputation as a goal scorer with Worsbrough Bridge last season.
Collieries, meanwhile, are looking to hire a first team physiotherapist.
The expenses paid role would suit somebody who is fully qualified and ideally has experience in treating sports injuries. The candidate must be available on one midweek match as well as Saturdays.
This opportunity is an excellent chance for anybody with an interest in a career in sport, as the club will fully support the individual’s career going forward.
