Pontefract Collieries may have to win all four of their remaining matches if they are to achieve their promotion ambition in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League.
Colls had a bad weekend without playing as both of their rivals for a top two spot both enjoyed victories.
AFC Emley won 5-0 away at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic to take over from Colls at the top of the table while third-placed Hall Road Rangers maintained their bid with an equally convincing 4-0 success at home to Brigg Town to keep the pressure on.
Ponte, who at the start of the month were briefly nine points clear, are now two points behind Emley, with a game in hand, and three ahead of Hall Road, who have played a match less.
It is brewing up to be an exciting finish with every win vital and after their surprise defeat to Brigg in their last game Colls will be looking to bounce back this Saturday when at home to Campion (kick-off 3pm).
They then have three away games to finish the season, going to Yorkshire Amateur on April 8, Knaresborough Town on April 14 and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic on April 22.
Pontefract Collieries are set to have a team playing in the West Riding County FA Flexi League next season.
The Flexi League is a successful innovative 11-a-side league which is played at central venues on a midweek night.
There is also minimal administrative duties, providing an opportunity for people to experience grassroots football with minimal fuss and maximum benefits.
The new team continues the club’s ethos of football for all as it will give players who have never had the opportunity of playing competitive 11-a-side football the chance. James Grayson will be managing the team.
Pontefract Collieries are hosting an Easter Skills School at the Harratts Nissan Stadium next month for boys and girls aged between 4 and 11.
Colls are running courses on Wednesday, April 12, Thursday, April 13, Wednesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 20th with all taking place between 10am and 3pm. Anyone interested can contact Colls community football officer Charlie Fletcher on 07494544636 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
