Club Press Officer, Charlie Fletcher, said: “Based on our work with our Food Hub and our education courses, run in partnerships with our education provider Keats Education, that we have done this to the best of our ability.

“The funds would be huge for the club, as it will allow us to be able to make vital renovations to our facilities.

“With these works our club will be allowed to grow and continue to help our community more and more.”

At the end of September last year, the club announced the launch of the community food hub to support those in need across the district to obtain food over lockdown.

The works on the kitchen will aid the food hub in their efforts to keep distributing food and essential items to those who need it across Pontefract.

Mr Fletcher said: “The kitchen we are looking to have installed will be a massive plus for the club and the community, in partnership with our education courses and the food hub.

“This will allow us to start our nutritional courses to help those in our community learn how important good nutrition is and how to cook healthy nutritional meals too.

“Without the grant we wouldn’t be able to fund these works for some years, financially over the last year our club has faced a lot of difficulties, as have many others due to covid.

“The grant would allow us to be able to improve our facilities and give us and our community a place to be proud of.”
