Methley bounced straight back to winning ways in the Premier Division of the Central Yorkshire League when they beat Buttershaw St Pauls by nine wickets.

A good effort in the field paved the way for the victory before opening batsman Richard Foster hit an unbeaten century to bring Methley home for a full six points that kept them on top of the table.

Set 161, Methley reached their target with more than 20 overs to spare as Foster struck five sixes and 14 fours in his 102-ball knock of 105 not out.

Opening partner Marcus Walmsley fell for eight, but Luke Patel gave Foster good support with 24 in an unbroken stand of 92.

In Buttershaw’s innings of 160 all out, they never got on top of the Methley bowling, which was led by Ed Walmsley (4-37) with Sohail Raz, Marcus Walmsley and Waqas Khan taking two wickets each.

A fine all-round display by Jack Hughes helped Townville to a four wicket win at Wakefield Thornes in the Premier.

After taking three wickets Hughes followed up by top scoring with the bat, hitting 54, with eight fours and a six, as Townville chased down their 157 target to get home with 10 overs in hand.

Opener Jonny Booth hit 41 and put on 66 for the third wicket after Kris Ward and Chris Holliday had both been dismissed for ducks.

Anurag Verma (13), Conor Harvey (27) and Nick Bresnan (15 not out) contributed to make sure Townville earned six points to stay within six of the leaders.

Methley A took little time to beat a severely weakened East Ardsley A team in the Second Team Premier.

Joshua Sullivan took 4-28 as Ardsley were all out for 73 then Jake McCaffery (31 not out) and Harry Anderson (30) top scored as Methley reached their target with nine wickets to spare.

Townville A went down by four wickets to Northowram Fields A in the Second Team Championship.

Batting first, they were all out for 132 with Steve Walton (30) and Ben Collinson (21) top scoring. In reply, Northowram got home in the 44th over despite two wickets for Andy Ward and Walton.

Great Preston A remain unbeaten in the Second Team Division One after beating Caribbean A by three wickets.

Adrian Sharp (3-20), Richard White (2-15) and Jordan Scott (2-12) led the bowling as Caribbean were dismissed for 86. Preston batsmen then also found it tough, but an unbeaten 24 from Lee Russell helped them get home in the 28th over.
