FRYSTON AFC’s annual presentation day took place at the Fryston Miners Welfare.
Awards were handed out by guests, including top referee in the Castleford Sunday League Dave Horner and Dave Penney, ex-Fryston and Pontefract Colls player and Football League manager, who now runs his own Football Academy every Thursday night at De Lacy Academy, Knottingley.
Brain Donor of the year: 1 Paul Taylor; 2 Andy Blackwell; 3 Scott Cole.
Club person of the year: Stuart Leach, presented by chairman Tony Burrow.
Supporters player of the year: Lee Hudson presented by assistant manager Lee Carter.
Referees’ player of the year: Lee Hudson presented by Dave Horner.
Players’ player of the Year: Andy Blackwell, presented by Dave Horner.
Player of the Year: Mark Jones, presented by Dave Penney.
Club player of the year: Mark Jones, presented by Dave Penney.
Special Award in recognition of his services to the club: Andy Burrow, awarded by club captain Scott Cole and vice-captain Andy Blackwell, flanked by the rest of the team.
James Lister, Mikey McNamara and Paul McNamara received individual medals for playing in their first season for the club.
Fryston AFC also recognised the efforts of main sponsors Jill & Andy’s Premier Store, Borrowdale Drive, as well as those who have contributed to the club throughout the season, mainly Kim Davison, Diane McNamara and Tracey Leach.
Fryston finished as runners-up in the Castleford Sunday League’s Premier Division and were also runners-up in the Premier Divisional Cup after losing to Ferrybridge Progressive in the final last week.
