CHEQUERFIELD professional boxer Sean ‘Short Fuse’ Hughes has secured a place in prestigious boxing tournament Prizefighter on Saturday, October 29.

The show, at London’s famous York Hall boxing venue in Bethnal Green, will be televised live on Sky Sports and features eight fighters competing in a knockout tournament for the title of prizefighter champion all in one night.

This means if Sean is successful he would have to fight three times against three different opponents, one after the other, but victory would jump him up in the rankings and definitely bring him a higher profile.

Hughes last fought just three weeks ago in Leeds when he was by his own standards and by his own admission below par in scoring a draw against Latvian-based Pavels Senkovs.

A change of opponent three times did not help preparations and it showed in the four-round contest as the referee scored the bout 38-38.

Now Hughes has the opportunity to prove that the display was a one-off by taking the Prizefighter title. Tickets are £30 and can be bought from www.seanshort or on 07503 199382.
