Methley’s hopes of adding the Yorkshire Council Senior Championship to their Jack Hampshire Trophy success were dashed when they went down by 52 runs to South Yorkshire side Treeton in the final at Liversedge CC on Sunday.
An opening stand of 156 in just 21 overs between Charlie Roebuck (93) and Stephen Foster (81) set Treeton up for a good score and their eventual 289-7 total proved too much for Methley.
The Methley bowlers stuck to their task with Ben Waite taking 2-39, including the wickets of both openers, Marcus Walmsley claiming 2-42 and Mustafa Bashir 2-58.
Methley lost Marcus Walmsley for a duck at the start of their reply, but reached 68-1 then 118-2 as Richard Foster hit 59, Luke Patel 28 and Dan Broadbent 17.
However, they fell behind the rate and although Chavez Younes hit 50 and Sohail Raz 38 they ended on 237-7.
