Methley pile up 324 to book place in semi-finals

METHLEY visit Farsley in the Bradford PPremier Cricket League’s Priestley Cup semi-finals on Sunday, July 30.

Methley booked their place in the last four with last Sunday’s 102-run victory over Birstall at Little Church Lane after piling up a mammoth total of 324-4 in their 50 overs.

Muhammad Akhlaq (78) and Marcus Walmsley (50) put Methley on their way with an opening 122-run stand.

Jordan Laban struck 65 and Grant Soames (60no) and Eddie Walmsley (36no) shared an unbroken 87-run partnership to continue the momentum.

Eric Austin led Birstall’s reply with an unbeaten century but they fell well short, closing on 222-8. Methley’s Mathew Lumb, Marcus Walmsley and Ben Waite each claimed two wickets.

New Farnley host Undercliffe in the other semi-final.
