Castleford RUFC’s girls completed a clean sweep of victories in last Sunday’s home matches against derby rivals Sandal.
The under 18s won 37-0, the under 15s triumphed 53-7 and the under 13s came out on top 50-45.
Both clubs have made great strides in girls rugby in recent seasons and that was evident last weekend.
Castleford won a thrilling, close-fought under 18s fixture in which Sandal never gave up.
Castleford’s Tilly Churm and Tamzin Renouf each scored three tries and Abi Burton also crossed, with Kayleigh Waller kicking one conversion.
Castleford under 15s moved the ball across the backs to great effect to emerge impressive winners.
The teams were evenly matched for the first 10 minutes but powerful runs from the Castleford girls gradually wore down a keen Sandal defence.
The Wakefield side competed well throughout but the willingness of the home side to keep the ball alive meant that they were always ahead on the scoreboard.
Castleford’s try scorers were Hollie-Mae Dodd (four), Lauren Harvey (two), Keara Bennett, Ellie Limb and Abbieleigh Lindley .
Chelsea Senior kicked four conversions.
Castleford under 13s narrowly won an end to end match.
All the girls showed the improvements brought about by more frequent matches as the number of girls teams continues to grow throughout Yorkshire.
Castleford’s try scorers were Ella Rae (four), Katy Metcalfe (three), Phoebe Senior, Abbie-May Millward and Lily Piper.
