CHRISTINE McCarthy of Pontefract Athletics Club won the women’s race in Saturday’s Pontefract Park Run.
Christine (pictured) led home the 32 women in the race and finished 13th overall out of 98, covering the 5K distance in 21 minutes, five seconds.
It was the Pontefract athlete’s second victory in the local park run in the last three months.
Michael Flaherty finished sixth in 19-35 and the fast improving David Kidd was seventh in a personal best of 19-50.
Michael Walker made his marathon debut in the Edinburgh marathon and had a good run to finish in three hours, 48 minutes, 47 seconds.
In the West Yorkshire Track and Field league fixture at Cleckheaton, David Kidd finished fifth in the senior men’s 1 ,500 metres in 5-01-49. He also clocked 13.90 for the 100 metres and showed great versatility by recording 6.13 metres in the shot putt.
William Carter finished third in the under 17 men’s 100 metres hurdles in 21.88.
He was also sixth in the high jump with 1.40 metres and he clocked 14.49 for the 100 metres.
Lewis Schofield did 4.12 metres in the long jump and 6.65 metres in the shot putt in the under 15 boys age group.
Cameron Howes clocked 11.93 in the under 11 boys 75 metres.
In the under 15 Girls events, Emily Carter threw the discus 12.16 metres and clocked 16.41 in the 100 metres.
In the under 13 girls age group, Maria Schofield cleared 1.15 metres in the high jump and Amy Brain did 3:05.08 in the 800 metres.
Megan Bashforth crossed the line in 2-17-43 in the under 11 girls 600 metres and recorded 3.11 metres in the shot putt.
