KNOTTINGLEY-based Sportscover-Altura RT cycling team made a flying start last weekend at the Sheffrec CC 2-up time trial by achieving first and second places in windy conditions on the Hatfield Woodhouse course.

Sportscover’s John Tanner and Colin Humphrey won the 25-mile race in 52 minutes, 221 seconds. They pipped team-mates Ashley Brown (Pontefract) and Adam Duggleby by 23 seconds.

Brown (pictured) said: “The wind made the course pretty tough but that suits the stronger teams in an event like this. Adam is going really well at the moment and is leading the Manchester Track League so has a lot of speed in his legs. I felt a little off the mark so the result was pretty good. Colin and John rode a great time and it bodes well for the early season events.”

Knottingley-based BBM Revolution CC club riders Wayne Lancaster and John Smithies competed in their first open time trial and gave an impressive display to finish 17th overall.
