Final tournament will feature 15 fights

KNOTTINGLEY’S SYD Ringside amateur boxing club hosts its final boxing tournament of the season at Kellingley Club next Friday, May 4.

Fighters will include newcomer Casey Ponsoby, from Knottingley, who is showing great ability, and Sam Allen from Kinsley, who has been with the SYD Ringside for only four months.

Allen has already had three fights, winning two of them in excellent style.

Thirteen-year-old Josh Milner, from Castleford, who is one of SYD’s most experienced fighters, will be back in action at the tournament after three months out of the ring.

Milner is an all-action boxer who is keen to be in top form for his last fight of the season.

Knottingleys Popi Burton (pictured)will be SYD’s last fighter on the bill.

Popi, who has won her last five fights, faces a tough challenge against Shannon Dowd from Derby. The pair have already fought three times.

The tournament features 15 fights and boxers from Essex will be among those taking part.

Tickets cost £10. Doors open at 7pm and the boxing starts an hour later. Tickets are available at Kellingley Club Monday to Wednesday 6 to 8pm.
