SNOZONE Castleford is hosting an event on Saturday evening to raise funds for top British skier Dave ‘The Rocket’ Ryding, who is one of Britain’s hopefuls for next year’s Winter Olympics.
Ryding, a Snozone regular, is currently in Austria training for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, when he will compete in the slalom.
Ryding, winner of this year’s European Cup men’s slalom series, said: “The facilities in the UK are a great platform to be able to develop and learn the same skills you need in the Alps.
“Snozone has been a great facility for me to both compete and practice which has assisted helped me get where I am today.”
The fund-raising event will be from 7pm to 10pm.
A Snozone spokesperson said: “Having benefited from training at our indoor real snow slopes, Snozone are delighted to lend their support to four times times British champion Dave Ryding.”
Those attending Saturday’s event will be able to enjoy a slalom on half of the main slope from 7pm - standard main slope prices apply - and then join everyone in the Snobar for a raffle and auction to help raise funds for Ryding’s quest for Olympic success.
Places can be booked online or by calling 0871 222 5673.
