CASTLEFORD Academy sixth-form student Gavin Bayliss (pictured) struck gold three times in the ASA National Age Group Diving Championships.

Gavin, a member of Harrogate and District Diving Club, came first in all his three events.

Gavin and fellow club member Adam Goundry got together just weeks before the championships to take part in the three metre snychro event. They led from start to finish, winning by 20 points.

Gavin’s other medals came in the one metre and three metre competitions in the boys group A section. He achieved personal best scores to come out on top in two tough, close-fought events.

It is the fourth year in a row that Gavin has achieved a gold medal in the three metre competition.

Gavin, who trains at the Hydro pool in Harrogate six days a week, said: “All the travelling and hard work has paid off. It’s the first time I have come away from a competition with wins in all my events.”
