Kye Evans of Pontefract Athletics Club was in top form at yesterday’s (Sunday) Barnsley track and field open meeting at Cudworth.
Kye finished fourth in the final of the under 15 boys 100 metres, setting a club record of 12.0 seconds.
He then finished third in the 200 metres, setting another club record with 24.8 seconds.
Callum Brain was also in outstanding form for the Pontefract club.
He won the under 15 boys shot putt, adding 61 centimetres to the club record with a throw of 10.97 metres.
Callum was also third in the high jump with 1.30 metres.
New member Rebecca Bell made a dream debut for the club. Rebecca finished second in her heat of the under 11 girls 80 metres, setting a club record of 12.3 seconds and she then finished fifth in the final in 12.4 seconds.
She followed this up with a superb victory in the 600 metres, fighting off a strong challenge from club colleague, Abigail Clegg, who was second.
There was still more to come as Rebecca came third in the final of the 150 metres, setting her own second club record of the day and the fifth Pontefract club record of the day with 22.9 seconds.
Maria Schofield won the under 13 girls shot putt by almost 2 metres with a massive throw of 8.27 metres.
Maria was also second in the high jump with 1.25 metres.
Sophie Gilbert is improving with every competition and she finished second in both the under 17 ladies 100 metres and 200 metres with 13.6 seconds and 28.8 seconds.
Will Carter finished second in the under 17 men’s long jump with 5.15 metres after recording personal bests in the 100 metres and 200 metres with 12.5 seconds and 25.9 seconds.
Amy Brain finished second in the under 13 girls long Jump with 4.06 metres and Abigail Clegg also made the podium in the under 11 girls long jump, finishing third with 3.56 metres.
