Cameron Howes of Pontefract Athletics Club was in excellent form at Sunday’s Leeds Indoor Open Meeting. He won all three of his events in the under 15 boys age group, just as he did at the Wakefield Open Meeting two weeks earlier.
In the high jump, he set a club record with a personal best of 1.70 metres. His winning height was only two centimetres short of the English Schools entry standard, which he should now achieve well ahead of the deadline in early June.
His other two victories came in the 60 metres hurdles in 9.8 seconds and in the long jump with 4.78 metres.
Will Carter set a club record in the under 20 men’s 60 metres hurdles, winning the event in 10.6 seconds. He also won the high jump with 5.50 metres and finished second in the long jump with 5.52 metres. Harrison Carter won the under 11 boys shot putt with 4.81 metres.
Rebecca Bell finished second in the under 15 girls shot putt with 8.48 metres and she also came third in the long jump with 4.32 metres. Jasmine Bate achieved 7.96 metres in the under 15 girls shot putt and 4.24 metres in the long jump.
Caitlin Howes finished third in the under 13 girls shot putt with 5.43 metres. She also recorded 3.23 metres in the long jump and 10.2 seconds in the 60 metres. Niamh Atkinson came fourth in the under 13 girls long jump with 3.52 metres. She also clocked 9.8 seconds in the 60 metres
