FAYE Banks, of Pontefract Athletics Club, made her first appearance in the Pontefract Park Run on Saturday and came home with an impressive victory ahead of the 33 women taking part in the race.
Faye (pictured) had to work hard for the victory. She finished the 5K race in 20 minutes 37 seconds, just 19 seconds ahead of her in-form teammate Christine McCarthy who finished second in 20-56, improving her own over 50s record at the Pontefract club by 24 seconds.
James Capon also had an impressive run to finish second overall out of the 90 finishers in a personal best of 17 minutes 33 seconds. David Kidd finished in 22 minutes, 12 seconds.
In Sunday’s East Hull 20 mile race, Michael Flaherty had an excellent run to finish in two hours, 21 minutes, 13 seconds.
Scott Daly clocked 2-28-24 and club chairman Cyril Jones, using the race as preparations for another tilt at the London Marathon, came home in 3-02-36.
