Jesters gymnasts top of the class

Gymnasts from Featherstone-based Jesters Gym Club were in outstanding form at the Yorkshire schools competition.

Many local gymnasts competed as they represented their school, aiming for a place at the British finals.

A group of six girls at under 14 level - Macy Wynn, Ellie Ward, Gemma Rust, Taylor Lund, Lottie Atkinson and Charlie Pearson - won gold, representing St Wilfrid’s RCHigh School, North Featherstone.

Sophie Pearce and Eloise Lovell, representing Carleton Community High in the under 19 pairs , also won gold.

In the tumbling, Macy Wynn (St Wilfrid’s)won gold in the under 14s and Abbie Fox (De Lacy Academy,Knottingley) took silver at under 11s.

All the girls will represent Yorkshire at the regional finals at Stoke on Trent in May.

Macy Wynn and Ellie Ward (St Wilfrid’s) won a silver medal in the under 14 pairs. Heidi Owens and Jessica Fulcher, representing Darrington Junior and Infant School, won a silver medal at under 11s.

Ellie Roberts and Olivia Baxter (St Giles C of E School, Pontefract) were under 11 bronze medalists.

Isobel Woodhouse (Larks Hill School, Pontefract) won a bronze medal in the under 11 tumbling.

Hollie Kerr (Purston School) won a bronze medal in the under 14 tumbling.

All the gymnasts trained exc eptionally hard for the competition.

Jesters head coach Mel Millard thanked coaches Jessica Garrett, Mark Oakes-Heppelstone and Lily Garrett for their continued support and help.
