YMCA E and C Station A were victorious in Castleford, Pontefract and District Table Tennis League’s Knock-out Cup preliminary round.

Keith Lumb won three games and Richard Fry two in C station A’s 5-2 victory at Knottingley A.

Knottingley’s Steve Taylor won two matches but Dave Page Page and Ross Hall were both out of luck.

Bailey Pye and Thomas Wilkinson each won two games and Daniel Ferguson won one as YMCA E beat clubmates YMCA D 5-1.

Gordon Cooper scored YMCA D’s only point.

YMCA D had better luck in league matches against C Station A and Knottingley C.

C Station, fielding only two players, forfeited three games as they slipped to a 7-3 defeat.

Keith Lumb (two) and Fry were C Station’s points scorers.

Gordon Cooper (three), his wife Margaret (one) and Ian Instone (two) gave YMCA D the upperhand.

YMCA D eased to an 8-2 win against Knottingley C.

Phil Cawser and Gordon Cooper led the way for YMCA D, both winning all their three games.

Elana McClements was the other points scorer for YMCA D who also won the doubles.

Neil Cooper and Dave Cooper each chalked up one win for Knottingley C but Robert McNaught failed to register a point.
