Dave Lumb was the again the winner when Fryston Angling Club members visited Weldrake near York on Sunday to fish the Horseshoe Lake at Pool Bridge Farm.
Anglers who visited the fishery a few weeks earlier learned that the resident fish prefer natural baits, so the order of the day was worm, caster and maggots.
Lumb came out on top for the second successive match. His 69lb 3oz catch of quality silver fish with a few small carp was just enough to push Colin Finney’s catch of 53lb 3oz into second place.
Lumb was also sat on a golden peg, the first winner from the pot this season. It more than trebled his winnings for the day.
Steve Birch was third with an all silvers catch of 47lb 3oz.
Section winners were S Varley with 28lb 13oz and M Tattersall with an all bream catch of 36lb-13oz.
L Roberts won the silver peg draw.
