Pontefract Squash Club lost 3-2 at Nottingham in last night’s Premier Squash League match despite James Willstrop’s 3-0 victory over Nick Matthew in the top string clash.

Laura Massaro gave Pontefract a great start with a 3-0 victory over Millie Tomlinson (11-6, 14-12, 11-1) but Neil Cordell, Matt Sidaway and Chris Simpson all lost.

Cordell went down 3-0 to Adam Murrills (6-11, 6-11, 2-11), Sidaway was beaten 3-1 by Richie Fallows (11-7. 5-11, 6-11, 5-11) and Simpson was pipped 3-2 by Declan James (1-11, 11-6, 11-2, 5-11, 10-12).

Willstrop beat Matthew 15-13, 11-5 and 11-6 but it wasn’t enough to rescue Pontefract in their opening fixture of the season.
