Pontefract Athletics club’s Yorck Newrick was in excellent record-breaking form in last Sunday’s Wakefield Harriers Track and Field Spring Open Meeting.
Yorck was victorious in the under 17 men’s hammer event, setting a new club record of 32.94 metres.
He also finished second in the shot putt with 10.83 metres and third in the discus with 25.28 metres.
Richard Howes was another to set a new club record –for men over 50 – in the hammer event as he recorded a distance of 19.42 metres. He also achieved 21.40 metres with the discus.
Jasmine Bate won the under 17 ladies hammer with 26.01 metres and she also finished second in the triple jump with 8.64 metres.
Rebecca Bell won the under 17 ladies shot putt with 9.28 metres.
Liam Greaves finished second in the under 15 boys 100 metres in 12.53 seconds and third in the 200 metres in 25.57 seconds.
Harrison Carter finished in third place in the under 13 boys shot putt with a distance of 5.54 metres.
Niamh Atkinson recorded 29.09 seconds in the under 15 girls 200 metres, as well as 2:43.77 in the 800 metres and 3.74 metres in the long jump.
Raya Welsh did a time of 15.84 seconds in the under 13 girls 100 metres, recorded 31.96 in the 200 metres and 3.61 metres in the long jump.
In the under 11 girls age group, Julia Rutkowska recorded a time of 12.46 seconds in the 75 metres with Jessica Lilley finishing in 14.35 and Niamh Fraser in 15.66.
Julia clocked a time of two minutes, 10.19 seconds in the 600 metres and she achieved 2.94 metres in the long jump, just ahead of Molly Waite (2.89 metres), Jessica Lilley (2.41 metres) and Niamh Fraser (2.06 metres).
In the under 11 boys events, Archie Fraser clocked 12.89 seconds in the 75 metres and he recorded 3.12 metres in the long jump.
Ryan Byrne recorded a time of 13.40 seconds in the 75 metres, as well as 2:19.15 in the 600 metres and 3.02 metres in the long jump.
