PONTEFRACT Squash Club’s James Willstrop was at his brilliant best as he reached the semi-finals of the Tournament of Champions at New York’s Grand Central Station last night (Tuesday).
World number one Willstrop beat fellow Englishman Peter Barker 3-0 in the quarterfinals.
Willstrop led 6-1 in the first game and a 6-2 in the second, winning both games comfortably 11-3 and 11-4.
In the third game, Barker briefly held a 5-3 lead but Willstrop hit back to win 11-6 and book a semi-final against another fellow Englishman Daryl Selby tonight (Wednesday).
Nick Matthew and Frenchman Gregory Gaultier meet in the other semi-final.
